Features

ARTIST NOTES: "Ediacaran",draws on the ancient beauty of Earth’s beginnings, crafted entirely from Mactridae bivalve shells arranged in a circle that symbolizes life’s cyclical nature. The earth-toned shells—rich browns, ochres, and greys—embody the timeless rhythms of nature and echo the landscapes of our planet’s distant past.

This artwork invites reflection on our planet’s origins and our role within its vast web of life. By repurposing natural materials, "Ediacaran" emphasizes the need for sustainability, reminding us of the fragile beauty of marine ecosystems and the urgency of environmental stewardship. Through this piece, I aim to celebrate life’s resilience while urging us to cherish and protect the natural world for generations to come.

ARTIST BIO

Ruby Donovan  - "artbyrd"

South Australian Artist

Ruby Donovan was born in South Australia  in 1971 and raised by  migrant parents in Adelaide.

She has a passion for the South Australian landscape and all that naturally occurs within it - be it from the rugged coastline flanked by the Great Southern Ocean  to the Arid Lands of the Flinders Ranges.

Her artwork reflects the continuous evolution of nature; she draws inspiration from the naturally occurring  colours and textures found in our local environment; from the Blues, Yellows and  Reds of the shells to the Whites, Greys and Browns of the leaves.

Ruby has an innate propensity for circular and curved shapes; as they evoke a feeling of gentleness, quietness  and calmness in which she then incorporates into her designs.

Ruby endeavour's to share the beauty of all that she feels and she's in the South Australian landscape with others.
