*Finalist - Gallery One Smallacombe Portrait Prize 2023*
I am inspired by the light and beauty I see around every corner and I am enthusiastic to tackle many subjects, but flowers in the garden or as still life are certainly one of my loves. I am currently aiming to develop a loose, painterly, representational style
Painting and drawing for me has become a regular weekly practise. It creates a great contrast from my more analytical career as a full time medical scientist. Having said that, part of the enjoyment of painting for me is knowing the science and technical details that go into making a beautiful painting such how our vision works, illusions, light, colour theory, pigments and mediums.
In the end though, I hope that my process leads to creating something beautiful to me and hopefully to others.
