ARTIST BIO

From an early age, I was captivated by the art of observation—always with a pencil or pen in hand, sketching and absorbing the beauty of the world around me. Though life took me on other paths, the call to create was ever-present, and in 2017, I embraced it fully, beginning my journey as a painter.

Initially self-taught, I explored acrylics on canvas, navigating the challenges of technique and expression. My artistic journey deepened when I discovered watercolor and the intricate world of botanical art. This exploration eventually led me to still life, a genre that resonates deeply with my love of storytelling through objects. A series of teacup studies in watercolor became the foundation for my evolving style, as I transitioned these techniques into acrylic on canvas. Today, I work between these mediums, though my growing affinity for large-scale canvases is becoming undeniable.

Inspired by the natural beauty of my Adelaide Hills property and the cherished objects within my home, my work reflects themes of memory, connection, and emotion. I am drawn to objects imbued with personal significance—vintage textiles, heirloom vases, and the linens that evoke memories of family gatherings and loved ones. Flowers, a recurring motif in my work, symbolize gestures of connection and emotion. They carry the weight of an apology, the joy of a shared moment, or the warmth of affection, engaging our senses with their color, form, and texture.

The interplay of color and light is at the heart of my practice, serving as a tool to evoke emotion and establish a dialogue with the viewer. My work seeks to honor the stories embedded in everyday objects, transforming them into timeless narratives that resonate universally.
